About the Founder

I am Elizabeth Forgey Stafford AKA Liz. I hail from Virginia, where I obtained a Bachelors degree with honors in Speech and Audiology in 2015 at Old Dominion University (ODU). Afterward, I remained at ODU to complete my Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2017. Prior to becoming a SLP I used to be an AVID tutor, special needs camp counselor, and a reading tutor for a local organization that assists children with dyslexia.

As my career progressed, I found myself gravitating toward supporting families and individuals who were less able to communicate their needs. This led me to seek additional training to gain a deeper understanding of how to assist my clients in more complex aspects of our scope of practice such as reading/writing, feeding, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), and Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). Additionally, I found a deep love for fostering a student clinicians' and CFs' development and helping them gain clinical confidence over the course of their semester or CF experience over the course of my career. In my free time, you can catch me learning new methods, playing with my plethora of animals, or sitting outside getting some much needed Vitamin D as I catch up on a good book.

My Experience

I love to continue my personal growth in different aspects of my field of practice. Therefore, I currently hold several certificates and additional trainings:

  • Early Intervention services in Virginia Preschool/School-Age

  • Fluency Certificate for School-Aged Children

  • Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding

  • Advanced knowledge of the Recipe for Reading Program

  • Advanced SOS workshop addressing feeding concerns for 6 months to 16 months of age clients.

  •  Oral Placement Therapy (OPT) Approach.

  •  Dynamic Tactile Temporal Tactile Cueing (DTTC) for children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech

I also have advanced knowledge in many areas including behavioral management, Autism, Central Auditory Processing disorder, AAC, working with severe/profound populations, executive functioning, cognitive training, et cetera.

Finally, I have worked in a variety of settings such as several outpatient clinics, a local public school district, Skilled Nursing Facility, and St Mary’s Home for children and adults with complex needs in both in-person and online settings for several years.

My Mission

My mission is to assist children of all ages to access communication by teaching them how to connect to people both verbally and through alternative means, speak their thoughts and ideas clearly, incorporate concepts taught both at home and at school into their everyday lives, savor eating different foods, and fostering a love for reading.
